What to do when a pipe freezes
A frozen pipe is stressful, but quick, calm steps can save you from a flood. Here is what to do and what to avoid.

Act fast and safe
If no water comes out of a faucet, you likely have a frozen pipe. Open the faucet so water can flow once it thaws. Shut off the main water if you suspect a break.
Do not use a flame
Never thaw a pipe with a torch or open flame. It is a fire risk and can crack the pipe. A hair dryer or warm towels are safer for a pipe you can reach.
Call for help
